Simple Steps to Start Your Meditation Practice

Step 1

You can meditate anywhere and at any time. You can meditate while sitting in a chair, laying on your bed, taking a walk outside, or even washing the dishes. It’s best if you can sit in a comfortable chair with your feet on the ground.

Step 2

Focus on the breath. Gently focus on breathing in to a count of 6, and then out to a count of 6. Do this for at least 5 minutes, which is a suitable time to meditate for a beginner.

Step 3

Allow any thoughts that might come up, but gently keep moving back to focusing on your breath! That’s all you need to do.
